- Previously unreleased.[11] Ten outtake.[12] All vocals were removed from the original outtake version, making this version of the song an instrumental.[10] McCready recorded a new lead guitar part for this version.[10] Another version of "Brother" with vocals appears on the 2009 Ten reissue and became a radio hit that same year.[23]

- Previously unreleased.[11] Recorded live during Pearl Jam's appearance on Rockline on October 18, 1993.[12] "Bee Girl" contains the hidden track "4/20/02" at 6:04, roughly four minutes and twenty seconds after "Bee Girl". "4/20/02", a Riot Act outtake,[9] is a song honoring Layne Staley of Alice in Chains.

Pro Pearl Jam přišel čas oddechu, přehodnocování a rekapitulace po odvážně tápajícím albu Riot Act. Dvoudiskový komplet Lost Dogs shromažďuje singlová béčka, outtakes a jiné rarity včetně několika ukázek ze slavných vánočních singlů pro členy kapelního fanklubu. Odpichovější kusy se sešly na prvním CD, zatímco druhé akcentuje baladické polohy i když to členění není úplně striktní.
Mezi třicítkou tracků (s jedním skrytým bonusem - pietní úklonou kolegovi Layne Staleymu) se najde i pár pominutelných marginálií, ale naprostá většina skladeb je svou kvalitou srovnatelná s tím, co známe z alb, v některých případech by dokonce byly jejich ozdobou (např. funkrocková jízda Dirty Frank). Písně nejsou řazeny chronologicky, přeskakuje se z jednoho období do druhého, ale i když kolekce působí sympaticky různorodě, je to spíš způsobené charakterem songů samotných než nějakými stylovými či zvukovými rozdíly v jednotlivých fázích kapely. Pearl Jam prošli za ta léta zřetelným vývojem, ovšem bez razantnějších zlomů, pořád s touž duchovní opravdovostí, úctou k rockovým kořenům i touhou hledat a to všechno je na písních z Lost Dogs krásně čitelné.
Zajímavé je porovnání počtu zastoupení jednotlivých období, které potvrzuje, že nejplodnější byli Pearl Jam v časech slavného debutu, ale překvapivě hodně silného "odpadu" zbylo i z ne úplně přesvědčivého alba Binaural. Naproti tomu z nahrávacích sessions ke skvostu jménem Vitalogy se na výběr... číst dále
